Connections to the Yanomami Tribe 

It is evident that the processes of globalization and modernization have affected the Nukak tribe greatly. Similar to these changes placed against the Nukak tribe, the Yanomami tribe based in Brazil, Venezuela, is also facing similar consequences as a result to globalization and modernization today.

Due to thousands of gold-miners illegally mining in the Yanomami land, many deadly diseases such as malaria, flu, respiratory illnesses have been transmitted, polluting the rivers and forest the Yanomami rely on with mercury. In addition, the Brazilian congress is considering the permit of large-scale mining in the Yanomami’s territories for an increase in trade, and business with other countries for growth in economics and globalization (Survival International Organization).
